A Court may order you and your spouse to participate in mediation, or you may do so voluntarily. This is a process designed to help the two of you work together, with the help of a mediator, to make your own decisions about important matters concerning things like property division, child custody and visitation. If you can resolve these on your own, you file your plan with the Court, and if the Court agrees the plan appears in the best interest of you both, it will become the Court’s final order. You may find you can agree on some issues, but not all. The issues you cannot agree on, the Court will make the decision for you.
